2024 National Farm Viability Conference
April 29-May 2, 2024 - Charleston, WV
In 2024, the sixth National Farm Viability Conference was hosted in West Virginia for the first time and was hosted by West Virginia University Extension. Over the course of nearly a month, the conference featured and featured three days of workshops, discussions and tours focused on the pillars of the conference, as well as additional local adventures before and after the conference for attendees to learn more about the region.

2021 National Farm Viability Conference
October 1-29, 2021 - Virtual
In 2021, the fifth National Farm Viability Conference was hosted virtually for the first time and was co-hosted by Oregon Tilth and Oregon State University’s Center for Small Farms and Community Food Systems throughout the month of October.
Over the course of nearly a month, the conference featured an array of virtual programming focused on strengthening farm sustainability, building more resilient local food systems, and supporting the long term profitability of farming and agri-entrepreneurs from start-ups to generational businesses.

2019 National Farm Viability Conference
October 22-24, 2019 - Red Wing, MN
In 2019, the fourth National Farm Viability Conference was held in the Midwest for the first time. The conference was hosted by Renewing the Countryside in partnership with the Vermont Farm & Forest Viability Program, and featured three days of workshops, discussions and tours focused on supporting the development of farm viability and food system resiliency. Over 200 organizations working in various sectors of the industry in 32 states (as well as Canada and Puerto Rico) were represented at this conference.

2017 National Farm Viability Conference
May 22-24, 2017 - Albany, NY
In 2017, the third National Farm Viability Conference was held, and brought together 300 participants from across the country to focus on strengthening farm sustainability, building stronger and more resilient local food systems and supporting the long term profitability of farming and agri-entrepreneurs from start-ups to generational businesses. The conference was hosted by Hudson Valley Agribusiness Development Corporation in partnership with the Vermont Farm & Forest Viability Program. The planning committee also included Cornell Cooperative Extension, GrowNYC, Kitchen Table Advisors, and the American Farmland Trust.

2015 Northeast Regional Farm Viability Capital Training
May & June, 2015
In 2015, the Vermont Farm & Forest Viability Program and The Carrot Project organized a series of high quality trainings for agricultural service and capital providers in New England to increase their ability to assist farm and food business owners in accessing appropriate capital. The long-term goal of this professional development is for more entrepreneurs to successfully and expertly secure financing, and for more capital to go towards farm and food businesses. These trainings can be easily replicated anywhere in the country.

The Vermont Farm & Forest Viability Program hosted the second-ever two-day gathering in Middlebury, Vermont, for service and capital providers working to improve the viability of farms and food businesses. The National Farm Viability Conference was geared towards professionals in the fields of farm business planning, farm financial planning, agricultural financing, farmland conservation, agricultural market development, and food hub management. Over 200 professionals from across the country attended for 2 days of networking with and learning from colleagues in their field, developing new knowledge and skills, and visiting farms and value-added processing facilities.
